Trump Mobile Quietly Removes ’Made in the USA’ Claim Amid Specs Downgrade
Trump Mobile has discreetly retracted its 'Made in the USA' assertion just one week after the phone's launch. The TRUMP Organization replaced the claim with ambiguous phrasing such as 'brought to life right here in the USA' and 'designed with American values in mind,' according to the Financial Times. The timing coincides with scrutiny from tech experts questioning the feasibility of producing a competitive smartphone using solely US-made components.
Initial promises of manufacturing in Alabama, California, and Florida have been overshadowed by significant downgrades in the device's specifications. The screen size was reduced from 6.78 inches to 6.25 inches, while references to 12GB of RAM were entirely removed. Shipping timelines have also been delayed, with vague references to a 'later this year' arrival replacing the original August target.
The challenges of domestic smartphone production are underscored by industry realities—over 80% of smartphone components originate from China, with even Apple and Samsung relying heavily on Asian supply chains. Liberty Mobile, handling service for the device, adds another LAYER of uncertainty to the venture.
